Suffolk boys and girls were up against Norfolk first. Suffolk boys had a strong start winning all three rubbers. Oscar Wright won his match with a close 3 set match 7-1, 7-9, 7-2. Charlie Dinmore then got a convincing win 7-3 7-3. Alex Blaydon rounded off the boy’s round with a 11-9, 8-6 win over the Norfolk number 1.

The girls who also hit the ground running Lily Godfrey winning 7-0 7-3 followed up by a 9-7 7-2 win for Mia Spaull. Samantha Blaydon then went on to beat the Norfolk number 1 girl 7-4 7-4 to put Suffolk 6-0 after the singles. Alex Blaydon and Charlie teamed up for the boys doubles which they won 8-6 7-1. Samantha and Mia then joined forces for the girls doubles which they took 7-0 7-2. Lily and Oscar were partners in the mixed doubles which they lost 7-3 7-5 which meant that Suffolk won overall 8-1.

In the second match Suffolk took on Bedfordshire, again another strong start from the boys with boys Oscar and Charlie winning their respective rubbers, Alex unfortunately losing his in a tight 3 set match which meant we were 2-1 going into the girls round. Lily then lost which meant we were neck and neck at 2-2 but Suffolk then got into gear with wins from Mia and Samantha and a clean sweep in the doubles meant we ended the tie winning 7-2 overall.

In the final we were up against a strong Cambridgeshire side, the boys fought bravely but came up a little short in the singles which meant we were 0-3 going into the girls round Lily lost 9-7 in the third but Suffolk got a glimmer of hope after Mia and Samantha played some fantastic tennis to get us back to 4-2 meaning we would need to win the doubles. Unfortunately we only managed to get one rubber in the doubles which was thanks for the girls, which left us 6-3 down at the final whistle.

Overall all the players played really well, represented Suffolk brilliantly on and off the court and had great attitude and effort throughout the day! Well done team Suffolk!
